How much bigger is a 40 ft high cube than a 20 ft container?
A 40 ft high cube covers twice the ground of a 20 ft container and stands 1 ft taller. Its outside footprint is 320 sq ft, and the 20 ft covers 160 sq ft.
Both sizes are 8 ft wide. The outside measurements on this page match the ISO 668 standard sizes for freight containers. Inside measurements are smaller because of the steel walls, floor and roof, and they vary a little by manufacturer. Call us if you need the inside size of a container on our lot.
What does "high cube" mean?
A high cube container is 1 ft taller than a standard container. Our 40 ft high cube is 9.5 ft high on the outside, and our 20 ft standard is 8.5 ft high.
How much does each size cost?
A 20 ft standard costs $3,600 one-trip or $2,600 used. A 40 ft high cube costs $5,600 one-trip or $3,600 used.
Delivery is included within 40 miles north or south of US 412/62, from Harrison, Arkansas, all the way to Memphis, Tennessee. Outside that area, call for a custom delivery quote. Arkansas deliveries add sales tax, and we do not collect taxes on containers delivered to Missouri. The price guide covers tax and delivery in more detail.
Is a 40 ft high cube a better value than two 20 ft containers?
A 40 ft high cube gives you the same footprint as two 20 ft containers for less money. Two one-trip 20 ft containers cost $7,200, and one one-trip 40 ft high cube costs $5,600. Used, two 20 ft containers cost $5,200, and one used 40 ft high cube costs $3,600.
Per square foot of outside footprint, the one-trip 40 ft high cube works out to $17.50 and the one-trip 20 ft to $22.50. Used, it is $11.25 for the 40 ft high cube and $16.25 for the 20 ft.
Two 20 ft containers can still make sense if you want them in different spots, or if your site has room for a 20 ft box but not a 40 ft one. That choice depends on your property.
Does a 20 ft container need less room for delivery?
No. Any size needs a level site with enough room for a truck and 40-foot trailer to maneuver. We deliver both sizes on the same roll-off trailer, so plan your access for a 40-foot trailer even if you buy a 20 ft container. The gate needs to be at least 12 feet wide, and we need 14 feet of overhead clearance.
Tell us which way you want the container doors to face. See how to get your site ready for delivery.
Can I look at the containers before I buy?
Yes. Our yard at 724 East Main Street in Gassville is open 24 hours, so you can stop by anytime, look at the containers and pick out the one you want. Then call us to buy.
Which size should I get?
Pick the size that fits the space you have and the things you plan to store. If both fit, the 40 ft high cube gives you more room per dollar. The 20 ft container is the lower total price and the smaller footprint on your land.
